NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Village of Mattawan has received a Zoning Amendment Application from Sulema Ramirez, to re-zone parcel No. 80-46-700-137-00 otherwise known as 25248 Front Avenue in the Village of Mattawan.  The request would

amend Section 2.20 “Zoning Map” of the Village of Mattawan Zoning Ordinance No. 214.  The proposed amendment would re-zone 9.8 acres to R-2 Single-Family Medium Density Residential District from R-1 Low Density Residential District.

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that a public hearing will be conducted before the Planning Commission on Wednesday May 19, 2021 at 7 p.m. for the purpose of receiving public comment regarding the proposed amendment.  It is anticipated that the Planning Commission will discuss and reach a decision regarding the proposed amendment following the close of the public hearing.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Village of Mattawan Council will hold a Public Hearing to consider adopting a budget for the 2021-22 Fiscal Year. The proposed budget will take effect July 1, 2021 and end June 30, 2022.

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that a Public Hearing will be held on May 24, 2021, at 7:00 p.m. before the Village Council. Due to the current MDHHS orders based on Covid 19, the Council meeting is being conducted via Zoom Webinar with a 500-participant capacity. All interested persons will be given an opportunity to be heard.

The mission of the Village of Mattawan government is to provide public services in an effective and efficient manner and to improve the quality of life for all of the residents and visitors in our community.

Mattawan is located on the eastern border of Van Buren County, easily accessed off of I-94. It’s local economy is supported by a strong manufacturing base, including plastic products and pharmaceutical research & development. Its proximity to the Kalamazoo area just 7 miles away also lends to its economic support. The Village offers small-town charm in the downtown area, which features a shady city park on one side of the main street area and a row of unique shops and eating establishments on the other.

EFFECTIVE SEPTEMBER 1, 2020

Water:  New rate $3.92/1,000 gallons

              Old rate $3.80/1,000 gallons

Sewer:  New rate $8.67/1,000 gallons

              Old rate $8.10/1,000 gallons

Non-Village Residents will continue to pay 1-1/2 times the new Village rates.

Debt service fees of $2.80 and $13.70 will no longer be billed.
